Mongo Land Da Lat: yurts, a petting farm and a 160m tube slide in Ta Nung, is it worth the trip?

Mongo Land Da Lat is a farm and photo park in Ta Nung with Mongolian-style yurts, a petting zoo and a 160m dry tube slide. This guide helps you decide whether it deserves half a day outside the city, and how to get there smoothly.

By Da Lat LoversPublished Updated How we review

On a hillside in Ta Nung, a 160m dry tube slide painted with the woven patterns of the local K’Ho people runs down into a valley. Above it sit round Mongolian-style tents, and sheep and alpacas graze on the grass. Mongo Land Da Lat is about 15-17km from the city center, over the Ta Nung mountain pass.

If you are traveling with young kids who love animals, or with friends who want to dress up for photos, it is worth a morning. If you only have half a day left and have not seen the city itself yet, think twice. For other stops in the same direction, see our list of 30 places to visit in Da Lat.

Is Mongo Land Da Lat worth it, and who is it for?

The official Facebook page describes the place as a “farm, zoo, coffee, games” venue. That is the most useful way to see it: an outdoor park on a former coffee plantation, with many photo settings, animals to feed and a few slides. The “Mongolian” theme is only one part, alongside stilt houses, rice terraces and a windmill.

Go if

  • You are with young kids who like animals: the park prepares feed so kids can feed rabbits, goats and sheep.
  • Your group wants to rent outfits and take photos in different settings in one place, without driving between spots.
  • You like gentle slides you can ride as a group more than true thrill rides.
  • You have a car or are comfortable riding a motorbike on mountain roads, and have a free morning.

Skip it if

  • You want to learn about Mongolian culture. This is a photo park, not a cultural center; the yurts and costumes are props.
  • You are uneasy about imported animals kept for petting and feeding. The zoo takes up a large share of a visit here.
  • You are staying in the center, have only a few hours and just want a fun ride. The alpine coaster at Datanla Waterfall is closer and does not use the Ta Nung pass.

Where is it, and how do you get there?

The park’s address is Group 16, Hamlet 1, Ta Nung. Ta Nung commune merged with old Wards 5 and 6 into Cam Ly - Da Lat ward on July 1, 2025, southwest of the center. Older maps and signs may still say “Tà Nung commune”, so search for Mongo Land by name. It is about 15-17km from the center.

The road is provincial route ĐT 725 over the Ta Nung pass (đèo Tà Nung). The pass is about 7.2km long, narrow, and often jammed when tourist traffic is heavy. Heavy rain can bring landslides: after the November 2025 storms, Lam Dong’s Department of Construction advised trucks of 3.5 tonnes and up, and buses with 30 seats or more, to avoid the pass at night and in heavy rain.

For a day trip, that means:

  • Travel in daylight. Set off in the morning and leave before dark.
  • Choose another day if heavy rain is forecast: the pass is at its worst in heavy rain.
  • Riding a motorbike yourself: only if you are used to steep grades and tight bends. What to check first is in our guide to renting a motorbike in Da Lat.
  • Taxi or ride-hailing car: arrange the return trip in advance, or hire a car with a driver who waits. The park is on the rural edge of the city, away from busy streets where cars are easy to find.

To show a driver, the Vietnamese name and address are: Mongo Land, Tổ 16, Thôn 1, Tà Nung, Đà Lạt.

Prices on blogs rarely carry a date

Many travel blogs and booking sites list different tickets and combos without saying when they checked. When figures disagree, go by the park: message the Facebook page or call.

What is there to do, and in what order?

The park has three kinds of things to do. First, photo settings: colorful round tents on the grass, rope swings, rice terraces, a water wheel and stilt houses, plus costume hire. Second, the animal area, with alpacas, sheep, goats and rabbits, and feed prepared by the park. Third, the active part: the 160m dry tube slide, a grass slide, a rainbow slide, a steep drop slide, an almost 500m go-kart track and archery.

Slides first or photos first?

On busy days (weekends and Vietnamese holidays), arrive at opening time and do the tube slide first, then rent outfits for photos and visit the animals. Costume hire has no time limit, so there is no need to rent before the slides.

You ride the tube alone, as a pair or in a group of six to eight, with a seat belt. At the bottom, an electric shuttle brings you back up, or you can walk up the slope.

With young kids: what to do, what to skip

  • Put first: the animals and the grass slide. The grass slide uses slow-moving sleds, and older visitors ride it too.
  • Can skip with small children: the steep drop slide, which is described as the bigger thrill. Let the adults try it if they want.
  • Ask before you queue: check age and height limits for the tube slide and go-karts at the counter. If you have back problems or are pregnant, check with staff before getting in a tube.

Where to rest

Almost everything is outdoors and there is little shade. The park’s own page lists coffee among what it offers, so that is the place to sit down between activities. With small kids or older relatives, take the electric shuttle back up after the tube slide instead of walking uphill, and break the visit into short stretches.

How long do you need, and when should you go?

The dalat.vn directory puts a visit at about 120 minutes. That does not include queues: on Vietnamese public holidays, many visitors wait 60-90 minutes for a turn on the tube slide. Add the drive there and back over the pass, and plan a whole morning.

  • Weekdays beat weekends and holidays. Vietnamese holidays include Lunar New Year (Tet), April 30 to May 1, and September 2. If a holiday is your only option, arrive at opening time.
  • Pick a dry day. Bring a hat and sunscreen on sunny days; in light rain, message the page to ask whether the slides are running. For which months are drier, see Da Lat’s two seasons.
  • Afternoons: get in by about 3-3:30pm to have enough time, since listed closing times vary between 5:30pm and 6pm.

Rules and tips around the animals

  • Only feed what the park provides. Do not give the animals food brought from outside, including kids’ snacks.
  • Keep a little distance from an alpaca’s head when feeding it, especially with small children, because alpacas can spit.
  • Watch your belongings around the raccoons. The park’s own page warns visitors about this.
  • Wash your hands after petting animals and before eating.

If an alpaca spits on you

What to do depends on where the saliva lands (based on NHS Inform’s rabies guidance):

  • On unbroken skin: wash the saliva off your skin.
  • In the eyes, nose or mouth: rinse right away, thoroughly, with clean water.
  • On a scratch or broken skin: rinse under a running tap for several minutes, and use an antiseptic if you have one.

If saliva got into your eyes, nose, mouth or a scratch, there is a chance of exposure, so get medical advice about rabies promptly. Do not wait until you are home from your trip.

Time left over? Where to stop

Make Mongo Land the main stop of the morning. The road crosses a pass, so if you still have time, add just one place to sit down for a drink.

  • Me Linh Coffee Garden: a café and coffee garden in the same Cam Ly - Da Lat ward, good for a sit-down after a morning outdoors. Drink prices and the weasel coffee question are covered in our Da Lat coffee guide.

Other stops in the same direction are on the west area of our Da Lat map; save them for another half day. From late October to late November, the Cam Ly - Van Thanh - Ta Nung road itself is a route for the yellow wild sunflowers (dã quỳ); dates are in our Da Lat flower season calendar.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • One gate ticket covers a full day of sightseeing, the slides and a go-kart lap (2026 information)
  • A 160m dry tube slide you can ride in a group of six to eight
  • Many animals, with feed provided so kids can feed rabbits, goats and sheep
  • Costume hire with no time limit and many photo settings in one place

Watch out for

  • 15-17km from the center over the narrow, often busy Ta Nung pass
  • Almost everything is outdoors, with little shade
  • Long waits for the tube slide on Vietnamese holidays
  • The “Mongolian” setting is a set of props mixed with several other cultures

Final word

The park suits families with young children and friends who love photos best, on a dry weekday morning. If you have only one day in Da Lat or want to learn about local culture, spend that time in the city instead.
