We favored places with real history, striking scenery or an experience you can only have here, rather than pop-up photo spots that open one season and vanish the next. Each of the places to visit in Da Lat below comes with a few facts we checked against Wikipedia, the press or the site’s operator, plus one honest caveat. Where we could not verify a number, such as ticket prices that only appear on blogs, we left it out instead of guessing. You can read how we work in our editorial policy.
Unlike the usual “top 99” lists of places to visit in Da Lat, we group the stops by area. Pick one cluster per half day and you can see a lot without zigzagging across town. If this is your first trip, our Da Lat travel guide covers weather, food and getting around.
A note on addresses: Da Lat is now five wards
Cluster A: places to visit in Da Lat around Xuan Huong Lake (walkable)
This is the easiest cluster and the best one for your first morning. From Xuan Huong Lake you can walk to the square, the flower garden, the market and the cathedral in a few hours, and almost none of them charge admission. If you only have one day, these are the places to visit in Da Lat that give you the best feel for the town.
01Xuan Huong Lake: the heart of town
This artificial lake was created in 1919 by damming the Cam Ly stream. The French called it Grand Lac, and it took the name Xuan Huong in 1953 (Wikipedia (in Vietnamese)). The loop around it is about 5 km and almost every list of places to visit in Da Lat starts here. It is loveliest early in the morning, when mist still sits on the water. Pedal boats returned in August 2025 after a pause, according to Kenh14 (in Vietnamese). The province has also approved a VND48 billion project to dredge a settling pond upstream in 2026–2028 (Dan Tri (in Vietnamese)), so expect the odd construction fence.

02Lam Vien Square: the artichoke and the wild sunflower
A broad lakeside square with two landmark glass structures, one shaped like an artichoke bud and the other like a wild sunflower (da quy), the local flower of early winter. It hosts most of the town’s big events: the 11th Da Lat Flower Festival is scheduled to open here on the evening of December 19, 2026, according to Thanh Nien (in Vietnamese). The wind picks up after dark, so bring a jacket even if the afternoon felt warm.

03Da Lat Market and the night market
The current market building was started in 1958 to a design by architect Nguyen Duy Duc and finished in 1960, making it one of the first multi-story markets in Vietnam (Wikipedia (in Vietnamese)). By day you will find candied fruit, vegetables and produce; after dark the steps fill with grilled snacks and wool sweaters. It is the liveliest of the places to visit in Da Lat at night. The Hoa Binh pedestrian street used to run on weekend evenings, but we could not confirm its 2026 schedule, so check locally.

04Da Lat Flower Garden
This lakeside park, once known as Bich Cau garden, grows more than 100 kinds of flowers, including hydrangeas, roses and chrysanthemums (Wikipedia (in Vietnamese)). The paths are flat and easy for all ages, which makes it a gentle stop for grandparents and strollers. We have not found an official source for the ticket price, so check at the gate. Take all the photos you like, but please stay off the flower beds.

05Da Lat Cathedral (the Chicken Church)
Its official name is St. Nicholas of Bari Cathedral. The foundation stone was laid on July 19, 1931, and the church was inaugurated on January 25, 1942 (Wikipedia (in Vietnamese)). Locals call it the Chicken Church because of the rooster weathervane on top of the bell tower. The pink walls and tall spire stand out against a blue sky, so come on a sunny morning for the best light. It is one of the most photographed places to visit in Da Lat.

06Linh Son Pagoda
Built in 1938–1940, the pagoda keeps a 1,250 kg bronze statue of the Buddha cast in 1952 and a 700 kg bell cast in 1958 (Wikipedia (in Vietnamese)). It is a quiet pocket of pine trees and incense smoke only a short walk from the busy center, and a good place to rest your legs after the market. Keep your voice down, cover your shoulders and knees, and remember that monks live and study here.

Cluster B: French-era architecture and historic sites
These places to visit in Da Lat sit within about 1–3 km of the center, and most are indoors, which makes this the cluster to save for a rainy afternoon. If you love old buildings, give it a whole half day. A motorbike taxi or a short ride-hailing trip between stops costs little and saves your legs on the hills.
07Da Lat Railway Station and the train to Trai Mat
Designed in 1932 by French architects Moncet and Reveron and opened in 1938, the station is known for its three pointed roofs, often said to echo the peaks of Langbiang (Wikipedia). The main line was abandoned during the war; today only a 7 km tourist section to the village of Trai Mat runs. The building itself is a favorite photo stop. Fares are posted on the station’s official page, and we do not repeat them here because they change every year.

08Palace III (Bao Dai’s Summer Palace)
Emperor Bao Dai, the last ruler of the Nguyen dynasty, used this villa from 1938 to 1954 as a summer retreat and working residence (Wikipedia (in Vietnamese)). Inside, his office, reception rooms and bedrooms are still furnished in a way that evokes the period, and the pale yellow facade is a neat example of the era’s architecture. Some rooms ask you to remove your shoes or wear shoe covers, so wear socks without holes. It is compact enough to see in under an hour.

09Palace I: reopened, and free to enter
French millionaire Robert Clément Bourgery built this villa on a hilltop in 1940, and Bao Dai bought it in 1949 (Wikipedia (in Vietnamese)). After more than two years closed to visitors, Palace I reopened on June 15, 2026 and currently charges no entry fee, although extras such as electric carts or costume rental may be paid (SGGP English). The free admission may change later. Of all the places to visit in Da Lat this year, it is the comeback we would put first.

10Palace II
Built in 1933 with 25 rooms, this was the summer residence of French Governor-General Jean Decoux (Wikipedia (in Vietnamese)). Today it mostly serves as a government guesthouse, so treat it as a building to admire from outside. If you want to go in, check first rather than turning up at the gate. It pairs well with a walk along Tran Hung Dao, one of the streets where many old French villas survive.

11The former Da Lat Teachers’ College (Lycée Yersin)
Founded by the French in 1927 and designed by architect Moncet, the school was renamed Lycée Yersin in 1935. Its curved red-brick wing and bell tower were listed by the International Union of Architects among 1,000 remarkable buildings of the 20th century (Wikipedia (in Vietnamese)). The arc of arched windows is photogenic from the lawn. Because it is still a working campus, be discreet with your camera and do not wander into classrooms.

12Domaine de Marie Church
This roughly 12 ha complex, built in the 1940s, includes a chapel and two convent wings of the Sisters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul (Wikipedia (in Vietnamese)). The pink walls and steep roofs recall the communal houses of the Central Highlands, and the grounds are full of flowers and pines. It is still a home for nuns, so keep your voice low and do not step into private areas. Late afternoon light suits the facade best.

13Tran Le Xuan Villa
A group of three villas, named Bach Ngoc, Hong Ngoc and Lam Ngoc, set on grounds of more than 13,000 m². It now houses the National Archives Center IV, which stores and displays the Nguyen dynasty woodblocks (Wikipedia (in Vietnamese)). The villa is named after Madame Nhu, sister-in-law of President Ngo Dinh Diem. It suits travelers who enjoy historical documents and quiet villas among the pines more than photo props.

14Lam Dong Museum
The museum sits in the villa grounds of Nguyen Huu Hao, father of Empress Nam Phuong, and has nine galleries on archaeology, traditional crafts and the festivals of the region’s Indigenous peoples (Wikipedia (in Vietnamese)). It is the quickest way to understand the Lam Vien plateau before the French built Da Lat. A little further along Hung Vuong street is the hillside cafe we reviewed in our Cheo Veooo cafe review, a good sunset stop afterward.

15Hang Nga Guesthouse (Crazy House)
Designed by architect Dang Viet Nga and open since 1990, the building resembles a giant tree, with rooms shaped like caves and trunks joined by twisting staircases (Wikipedia). The grounds cover nearly 4,000 m² (Wikipedia (in Vietnamese)). It is both an attraction and a guesthouse, so you can actually sleep in one of its odd rooms. It is the strangest of all the places to visit in Da Lat. Go early, because the narrow walkways get crowded by late morning.

Cluster C: pagodas and a Zen monastery
The two places to visit in Da Lat in this cluster sit on opposite sides of town, so pair each one with a neighboring cluster: Linh Phuoc with the train from Da Lat station, Truc Lam with the cable car and Tuyen Lam Lake. Both are active places of worship.
16Linh Phuoc Pagoda (the Bottle Pagoda)
Construction began in 1949. The pagoda is famous for a 49 m dragon made from some 12,000 glass bottles, a seven-story bell tower more than 37 m tall and an 8,500 kg bell cast in 1999 (Wikipedia; Wikipedia (in Vietnamese)). According to Lam Dong newspaper (in Vietnamese), it also has a 17 m statue of the Bodhisattva Quan Am made from 650,000 everlasting flowers. The most fun way to get here is the tourist train from Da Lat station.

17Truc Lam Zen Monastery
Built in 1993–1994, the monastery belongs to the Truc Lam Yen Tu school of Zen and was founded by the Most Venerable Thich Thanh Tu (Wikipedia (in Vietnamese)). Stone steps lead up through flower-filled grounds to the main hall, and the terraces look down over Tuyen Lam Lake and the pine hills. It is one of the calmest places to visit in Da Lat, as long as you arrive before the tour buses. Combine it with the cable car (No. 19).

Cluster D: lakes, pine forests and the south side
Prenn Pass warning (updated September 24, 2026)
18Tuyen Lam Lake
Built between 1982 and 1987 by damming the Tia stream, this is the largest freshwater lake in what used to be Da Lat city (Wikipedia (in Vietnamese)). Pine forest, resorts and waterside cafes line its shores. One of the most relaxing places to visit in Da Lat, it is our pick for kayaking, a boat ride or simply sitting by the water away from the crowds in the center. Sunny weekday mornings are the quietest, and the light on the pines is softer before 9am.

19Da Lat Cable Car (Robin Hill)
Running since 2003, the cable car links Robin Hill with a station near Truc Lam Zen Monastery (Wikipedia (in Vietnamese)). According to Thanh Nien (in Vietnamese), operator Dalattourist is upgrading the cabins and introducing a smart ticketing system in 2026. From the cabin you look down over pine forest stretching all the way to Tuyen Lam Lake. On windy or stormy days the line can pause, so have a backup plan.

20Clay Tunnel (Sculpture Tunnel)
Sculpted from red basalt clay, this site retells roughly 130 years of Da Lat history in miniature, with an infinity lake featuring statues of K’Lang and H’Biang by artist Trinh Ba Dung (VietnamPlus (in Vietnamese)). It is promoted with a string of records, but its real value is the way it tells the town’s story through scale models of landmarks you will recognize. Kids tend to love it, and it is partly sheltered on drizzly days.

21Datanla Waterfall
The falls drop from a ledge about 20 m high, and the name comes from the K’Ho language, meaning roughly “water under the leaves” (Wikipedia (in Vietnamese)). Among the adventure places to visit in Da Lat, it is best known for its forest alpine coaster; in 2026 it added Pine Kart off-road driving and a net playground (Dan Tri (in Vietnamese)). Nearby Prenn Falls has become a resort and was fined for unpermitted construction (Thanh Nien (in Vietnamese)), so we left it off the list.

22Than Tho Lake (Lake of Sighs)
The French dammed the valley in 1917 for drinking water and named it Lac des Soupirs; the Vietnamese name Than Tho, which also means sighs, dates from 1956 (Wikipedia (in Vietnamese)). Next to it is Hai Mo pine hill, tied to a tragic love story in local legend. Early mornings bring a thin mist over the water and very few visitors, which suits a slow walk. Pair it with the Valley of Love, which lies on the same side of town.

23Valley of Love
The French called it Vallée d’Amour; the Vietnamese name was proposed in 1953, and Da Thien Lake inside the park was created by a dam built in 1972 (Wikipedia (in Vietnamese)). Today it is a ticketed park with many man-made photo sets, pedal boats and flower beds. It is one of the more commercial places to visit in Da Lat; if you prefer wilder nature, Tuyen Lam Lake is the better choice. If you travel with children or older relatives, the paved paths and easy access make it a relaxed afternoon.

Cluster E: mountains, hills and places to visit in Da Lat for cloud hunting
To see a real sea of clouds, locals call it “san may” (cloud hunting), you have to be on a hill outside town by 4–5am. Dress warmly, bring a flashlight and check our live Da Lat weather the night before: clear, calm nights with high humidity usually give the best clouds. These are the places to visit in Da Lat where an early alarm pays off.
24Langbiang Mountain
This mountain group is tied to the K’Ho legend of the lovers K’Lang and H’Biang, and its highest peak reaches 2,167 m (Wikipedia (in Vietnamese)). Most visitors take a jeep up to Radar peak for views over the valley and Dankia Lake; in 2026 the site added acoustic music at sunset (Thanh Nien (in Vietnamese)). Only hike up on foot when the trail is dry. Bring layers, because the summit is noticeably colder and windier than town.

25Cau Dat tea hills
The French set up a tea estate at Cau Dat in 1927, and the green terraces are still farmed today. It is the most famous of the cloud-hunting places to visit in Da Lat, which is why the ridge is now dotted with cafes on wooden platforms that charge an entry fee. Clouds depend entirely on the weather and do not appear every morning, so don’t be disappointed by a clear day. The rows of tea look great in any light.

26Da Phu Hill
This is the closest cloud-hunting spot to the center, grouped by VnExpress (in Vietnamese) with the Cau Dat tea hills and Hon Bo peak. With no permanent cafes or ticket booth, it still feels fairly wild, which is exactly its appeal. Bring a warm jacket and a flashlight for the walk up in the dark, never light fires, and carry your rubbish back down the hill with you.

Cluster F: waterfalls beyond the center
Datanla is already covered in Cluster D. The big waterfall among the places to visit in Da Lat outside town is Pongour, which takes most of a morning and means going down one of the passes, so plan it around the weather.
27Pongour Waterfall (Seven-Tier Falls)
The falls drop nearly 40 m and spread more than 100 m wide across seven rock tiers, hence the nickname Seven-Tier Falls (Wikipedia (in Vietnamese); Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (in Vietnamese)). It lies outside the five Da Lat wards, but many travelers add it to their plans anyway. In the dry season the water thins and the terraces show clearly; in the rainy season it turns white and roaring, and more dangerous. You have to drive down a pass to get there, so check for landslides first.

Cluster G: flower villages and farms
Flowers and vegetables are what Da Lat actually lives on, and the greenhouse villages are the places to visit in Da Lat that show that side of town. Treat them as working farms rather than theme parks.
28Van Thanh flower village
Van Thanh is often described as one of Da Lat’s oldest flower-growing villages and is listed as a photo stop in VnExpress’s Da Lat guide (in Vietnamese). Here you see both sides of the “city of flowers”: the blooms are beautiful and the trade is thriving, but dense greenhouses have changed the landscape for good. You can add a strawberry garden or a small family farm nearby. Go on a weekday morning when growers are working, and buy a bunch directly from them.

Cluster H: the Lang Biang outskirts and Ta Nung
The northern and western outskirts hold some of the quietest places to visit in Da Lat. You need a motorbike or a car, and the roads are best in dry weather.
29Dankia - Suoi Vang lakes and Ankroet dam
Two linked lakes to the north, formed by the Ankroet dams on the Da Dang river, supply the town’s water (Wikipedia (in Vietnamese)). This is one of the lesser-known places to visit in Da Lat. The Ankroet hydropower plant was started in 1942 and began generating in 1946, and is described as one of Vietnam’s first hydropower plants (Bao Van Hoa (in Vietnamese)). In the dry season the water can drop and expose the lakebed, so late in the rainy season is the prettiest time.

30Cu Lan Village
This tourist area opened in 2011 and covers about 30 ha at the foot of Langbiang, offering jungle jeep rides, camping and horse riding (VnExpress (in Vietnamese)). In October 2023 a jeep carrying tourists was swept away by a flash flood, killing four South Korean visitors (VnExpress International). The site was suspended and reopened on December 16, 2023 (Tuoi Tre (in Vietnamese)). Ask about the exact route and skip anything near streams when it is raining.

A 3-day route through the places to visit in Da Lat
The route below puts nearby stops in the same half day and avoids the Prenn Pass section. Swap the days around to match the forecast and save the clearest morning for cloud hunting. Distances are short, but hills and weekend traffic make everything take longer than the map suggests.
