Happy Hill Da Lat: entrance fees, getting there and what to expect

Happy Hill Da Lat is a cafe with landscaped gardens and photo spots at the end of a side road by Tuyen Lam Lake, known for an owner in period costume nicknamed “Co Long”. It is about 12 km by road from Da Lat Market, and the grounds have many steps. Check current admission prices and opening hours, arrange your return ride, and treat meeting the owner as a bonus.

By Da Lat LoversPublished Updated How we review

Happy Hill suits travelers who want to visit a flower garden by Tuyen Lam Lake for photos. If you have a particular photo spot in mind, check recent pictures before you go; the flowers and displays may have changed. If you want to be sure the owner known as “Co Long” will come to your table for a chat, do not count on it: she has said the cafe is not a stage and she does not sell meet-and-greet tickets.

If meeting the owner is the main reason for your trip, ask the cafe beforehand whether a chat is possible on the day you visit.

1. What is Happy Hill Da Lat, and who is it for?

The cafe and photo garden was opened in 2017 by Kim Huong, who grew up in Da Lat. It backs onto pine forest and faces Tuyen Lam Lake. A flower path runs down toward the water with hundreds of hydrangea bushes on both sides, and the gardens are replanted by season (Dan Tri, November 2025). Before the owner became famous, the cafe already rented out period costumes for photos.

“Co Long” is a nickname Vietnamese social media gave the owner. She walks between tables in a period costume and teases guests in the voice of 1990s Hong Kong martial arts dramas, the TVB series that were dubbed into Vietnamese and widely watched at the time. Clips spread from mid-October 2025 (VnExpress, December 2025). She also speaks English and Chinese, so foreign visitors can talk with her too.

Go if

  • You want garden photos with the lake and pines behind you, and you are fine paying an entrance fee rather than just buying a coffee.
  • You are curious about Co Long and would enjoy meeting her, but it is not the only reason for the trip.
  • You already plan to visit Truc Lam Zen Monastery or Tuyen Lam Lake, which are in the same direction.

Pick somewhere else if

  • Someone in your group struggles with slopes or steps (details in section 6).
  • You can only go on a Vietnamese public holiday and do not want to queue.
  • You only want to sit down for a coffee and have no interest in the garden photo spots: check the entrance fee and menu before deciding.

2. How do you get to Happy Hill from the center?

The cafe is at the end of Hoa Phuong Tim Road in Xuan Huong - Da Lat ward (VnExpress, December 2025), the last stop on the left-hand branch road around Tuyen Lam Lake (Tuoi Tre, May 2026). From Da Lat Market it is about 12 km by road and about 7 km in a straight line (measured on OpenStreetMap, October 9, 2026).

Suggested route

  1. From Da Lat Market, take Tran Quoc Toan and Ho Tung Mau, then follow 3 Thang 4 Street toward Prenn Pass.
  2. Head toward Prenn Pass, then follow the turn onto Truc Lam Yen Tu Road, the way to Truc Lam Zen Monastery. Check the exact turn on a map.
  3. Turn onto Hoa Phuong Tim Road and follow it about 4 km to the end. The cafe is next to the Da Tien tourist area.

In Grab or another ride-hailing app, type “Happy Hill” and check that the pin sits at the end of Hoa Phuong Tim Road before you book; maps may also list it as “Happy Hill Coffee”.

Because the cafe is at the end of a side road, plan your ride back: ask the driver to return for you, or book the return a little before you want to leave. If you plan to ride yourself, read renting a motorbike in Da Lat.

Prenn Pass and holiday traffic

Lam Dong province declared an emergency over landslides on Prenn Pass (Tuoi Tre News, September 23, 2026). When the pass closed on January 9-15, 2026, traffic was sent via Mimosa Pass or the Sacom - Tuyen Lam road (Thanh Nien, January 7, 2026). Check for traffic diversions before you set off. On public holidays the road to the cafe has been jammed (Tuoi Tre, May 2026), so allow extra time.

3. What do the entrance, drinks and costume rental cost?

Prices as reported in the press in November 2025, not rechecked at the cafe. Ask at the gate before buying a ticket.

Before buying a ticket, ask which drinks are included and which cost extra. If you only want coffee, check the menu and total cost before deciding.

Costume rental is only worth it if you want a set of photos in the style of a period drama. At the prices above, four people renting costumes would add 600,000-1,000,000 VND on top of their tickets.

4. When is it less crowded?

Over the April 30 holiday in 2026, the cafe got so busy that some visitors waited nearly three hours for a photo with the owner. That was a peak-day report, not a typical wait.

  • For garden photos with fewer people: go on a weekday and avoid public holidays and weekend mornings. If you go in the afternoon, keep an eye on closing time so you can see every corner.
  • On rainy days: the owner has said stormy days are very quiet, but that is no reason to go. Avoid visiting during storms or heavy rain. For light showers, check the path conditions and wear shoes with good grip.

October is still rainy season; how rain usually falls through the day is covered in Da Lat weather in October. The evening before, check the live Da Lat forecast on our home page to pick your day.

5. What should you know if you want to meet Co Long?

If meeting the owner is the main reason for your trip, ask the cafe beforehand about the day you plan to visit and confirm with the staff when you arrive; going on a weekday does not guarantee a meeting. Do not assume she will stop by every table.

During the April 30 holiday in 2026, the cafe used time slots and shortened meetings with the owner. Ask staff about the arrangements for your visit.

Watch out for fake accounts

In May 2026, the owner warned that fake accounts were using her photos to ask for donations. If you get a message asking for money, do not rely on the profile photo or follower count to decide it is her real account. A ticket to the cafe does not mean you will meet the owner; do not pay extra on the strength of an outside seller’s promise.

6. Stairs and slopes: who should plan ahead?

The grounds are large and have many steps, so seeing every photo spot takes some effort (Dan Tri, November 2025). The paths through the pines are red dirt. Over the April 30 holiday, an older man with a sore leg could not walk down the slope from the area above the gate and waved from a distance instead (Kenh14, May 2026).

  • Older travelers or anyone with sore knees: call the cafe first and ask whether there is a route with fewer steps or seating near the gate. If step-free access is essential, wait for confirmation before making the trip.
  • Traveling with small children: ask beforehand which sections work with a stroller.
  • Wheelchair users: confirm the entrance and the accessible areas separately; do not assume that having someone to help will be enough.
  • Everyone: the flower path leads down toward the lake, so the way back is uphill. Red dirt gets slippery after rain, and shoes with grip are better than sandals.

7. How do you take photos without bothering others?

  • Take turns at busy spots: when people are waiting, take a few shots, step aside and come back later if you need more.
  • Ask before filming others: the cafe itself stresses guests’ privacy, so ask before filming the next table, the staff or the owner up close.
  • Stay out of the flower beds: shoot from the path, and do not step into the beds or pull branches into the frame.
  • Online photos may be out of date: the sets change all the time, so the corner you saw in a video may look different.

8. How do you combine Happy Hill with Tuyen Lam Lake and Truc Lam?

The road to the cafe passes along Truc Lam Yen Tu Road, the same direction as Truc Lam Zen Monastery. From the monastery car park to the cafe is about 6 km by road (measured on OpenStreetMap), so the two fit into one outing.

  • With your own car or motorbike: visit Truc Lam in the morning, then ride on to Happy Hill. The reverse order works too; choose based on when you want to be at the cafe (section 4).
  • By cable car: the cable car runs from Robin Hill to Truc Lam station, but you still need a car from the station to the cafe. Times, tickets and the lunch break are in Da Lat cable car.
  • With more time: other southern sights such as Datanla Waterfall are in cluster D of places to visit in Da Lat.

Happy Hill could fit into a half-day outing with Truc Lam if you enjoy garden photos and can manage the steps. Treat meeting the owner as a bonus.
