Ba Na Hills: tickets, getting there and when to see the Golden Bridge
A Ba Na Hills ticket is a return cable car ride that already covers the Golden Bridge and the French Village; adults who aren’t Da Nang residents, foreigners included, pay 1,000,000 VND (about US$39). If you want to go up early, check that day’s cable car hours before you choose how to get there. October to December is often wet and foggy at the top, and you shouldn’t assume a refund or date change, so check the forecast and the ticket terms before you pay.

Ba Na Hills tickets: what you pay and what’s included
Your Ba Na Hills ticket is a return cable car ticket. Visitors can’t drive up the mountain, so the cable car is the only way to the top, and the Golden Bridge sits inside the resort rather than having its own ticket.
| Ticket | Price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Adult (1.4 m and taller), not a Da Nang resident | 1,000,000 VND (about US$39) | The rate foreign visitors pay |
| Child 1 m to under 1.4 m, or over 70 | 800,000 VND (about US$31) | Rate published in early 2026 |
| Child under 1 m | Free | |
| Age 18-25 (born 2001-2008) | 500,000 VND (about US$19); with lunch buffet 800,000 VND | September 1 to December 31, 2026; passport accepted as ID |
| Cable car with lunch buffet | 1,300,000 VND (about US$50) | Listed price reported in July 2026 |
| Ba Na by Night combo | From about 1,050,000 VND | Cable car after 4 pm, shuttle from central Da Nang, dinner buffet |
Da Nang residents pay less (650,000 VND for adults) but must show their own ID at the gate. Vietnamese friends living elsewhere pay the same as you.
The basic ticket covers the Golden Bridge, the Le Jardin D’Amour gardens, the French Village, Moon Castle, the indoor Fantasy Park, the funicular, the Linh Ung pagoda area and the street shows. The Debay wine cellar, the interactive light art space, the Alpine Coaster, the climbing wall, the movie theaters and prize games cost extra, roughly 70,000-150,000 VND each in August 2026.
Before you buy
- Don’t assume your ticket can be refunded or moved to another date. Check its terms, including what happens if the cable car is suspended. In the rainy months, don’t book days ahead; watch the forecast and buy two or three days out on Sun World’s booking site, which takes international cards. The walk-up counter at the base is open roughly 8 am to 5 pm.
- A standard ticket is valid on the date printed on it. Since May 18, 2026, using it on three consecutive days requires an upgrade at the ticket counter plus FaceID registration at the gate before your first ride. The announcement doesn’t mention a fee, so ask at the counter.
- Outside food and drinks aren’t allowed. Keep your paper ticket or QR code all day, since it’s scanned again for the ride down. There’s a luggage room by the entrance gate.
When to visit the Golden Bridge
The Golden Bridge stands at about 1,414 m (4,640 ft) and runs roughly 150 m. On the Hoi An - Marseille cable car line, it’s the first stop. That Hoi An station is at the foot of the mountain, not in Hoi An’s old town, so don’t let a driver take you there by mistake.
On October 25, 2026, Sun World’s operating hours lookup showed the Hoi An - Marseille line starting at 7:30 or 8 am depending on the day and running until about 6:10-7:10 pm, while the Suoi Mo - Ba Na line stopped around 4:30 pm. The bridge area itself is open 6 am to 8 pm, but before the lower cable cars start only overnight guests can get there. Hours change from day to day, so check the night before.
- First thing: to catch the first cable car, check whether departures start at 7:30 or 8 am that day. Buy your ticket in advance and arrive at the base station 20-30 minutes before departure. The walk-up counter is listed as opening around 8 am, so for a 7:30 departure confirm the early entry arrangements too. Visit the bridge first, then go on to the French Village. An early start puts you ahead of most tour groups, but it doesn’t mean an empty bridge: the photo at the top was taken at 8:46 am, with the railing already lined with people.
- Mid-morning to early afternoon: tour groups arrive and the railings fill up, as in the photo below. Spend this stretch in the French Village or Fantasy Park, or have lunch.
- Late afternoon: day-trippers start heading down from about 3:30-4 pm (the free bus leaves at 4). Sunset is around 5:15 pm in November and December; if the Hoi An - Marseille line is running until 6 pm or later that day, you can catch the bridge in the late light and ride straight down.
- Staying overnight on the mountain: hotel guests get early cable cars from around 6 am, so they can reach the bridge before day visitors. Sunrise is about 5:45-6:10 am in November and December, so you may not make it in time; ask the hotel about the early cable car schedule before booking.

Ba Na is big: allow about six hours on the mountain for the main sights, including getting around and lunch. Each cable car leg takes about 15-25 minutes, plus any queue at busy times.
Visiting in October, November or December: rain and fog
Ba Na falls within central Vietnam’s rainy season, and at over 1,400 m it runs about 8-10°C (15-18°F) colder than Da Nang and often sits inside the cloud. When the cloud drops, the stone hands and the mountains behind them can vanish completely; on other days the cloud settles below and the bridge seems to float above it.
| Month | Typical daily range | Share of daytime hours with rain |
|---|---|---|
| October | 15-20°C (59-68°F) | About 6 in 10 |
| November | 14-18°C (57-64°F) | About 6 in 10 |
| December | 12-15°C (54-59°F) | About 6 in 10 |
| January | 11-16°C (52-61°F) | About 5 in 10 |
| March-April (for comparison) | 14-23°C (57-73°F) | About 1 in 4 |
In the same data, October-December rain clusters around midday and early afternoon more than early morning, one more reason to ride up early.

Picking a day in the wet season
- Put Ba Na in the middle of your Da Nang stay, not on your last day, so you can move it. Check the forecast and warnings on the national weather service site; if a storm or tropical depression is coming, skip it.
- The cable cars run in light rain but can pause in strong wind or thunderstorms. On the morning of your visit, call the resort hotline (+84 905 766 777) to ask about the cable cars and conditions at the top before you book a car.
- Bring a jacket, a light rain layer and shoes with grip; in December add a warm layer, especially for kids and older travelers.

Getting to Ba Na Hills from Da Nang and Hoi An
The base station is about 24-25 km from the Dragon Bridge and Da Nang airport, and about 46 km from Hoi An’s old town. By car it’s typically 35-50 minutes from central Da Nang and an hour or more from Hoi An.
| Option | Cost | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Free WOW Bus from central Da Nang | Free | Leaves 8:30 and 9:30 am from the Novotel lobby, 36-38 Bach Dang; returns 4 pm. Register a day ahead. Arrives after the cable cars start, so not for the first ride up |
| City bus 03, airport to Ba Na parking | 30,000 VND for the full route | From the airport 7 am-6 pm, from Ba Na 8 am-7 pm |
| Taxi or Grab from central Da Nang | About 350,000-420,000 VND each way (US$14-16) | The 500,000-600,000 VND return fare in Sun World’s transport guide covers about four hours of waiting; ask for a full-day quote if you’ll stay six hours or more |
| Shared shuttle from Hoi An | Per person, varies by company | Hotel pickup usually around 7:30-8:15 am, leaving Ba Na around 3-4 pm, so it won’t make the first cable car |
| Taxi or private car from Hoi An | Estimated 600,000-800,000 VND each way (US$23-31) | You set the time, so it works for the first cable car; agree a return price with waiting time |
- WOW Bus: besides the Novotel, it picks up at East Sea Park, opposite My Khe Beach next to the DLG Hotel, Vegas Club and 99 Vo Nguyen Giap. It doesn’t stop elsewhere and seats are limited; the sign-up QR code is in Sun World’s schedule notice (in Vietnamese). Because it heads back at 4 pm sharp, it doesn’t work if you want the bridge in late light.
- Bus 03: cheapest if you’re staying near the airport or along Nguyen Van Linh and Dien Bien Phu streets; the DanaBus app tracks buses live.
- From Hoi An: there’s no public bus straight to Ba Na, but several travel companies run shared shuttles with hotel pickup and a same-day return, such as Hoi An Express. Before booking, check the pickup point, the return time and availability for your date. For the first cable car, a private car gives you more control: allow about an hour on the road plus 20-30 minutes at the station, so leave the old town around 6 am on days the cable car starts at 7:30.
- Pairing with an evening in Hoi An: you can spend the day at Ba Na and still get back for the lantern festival night, as long as you’ve fixed when you leave the mountain and how you’re getting back. If you’d rather not rush, or you still have to check in that day, split them over two days.
- From Hue: take the Hue to Da Nang train and spend a night in Da Nang; a same-day round trip from Hue leaves very little time on the mountain.
What’s at the top and where to eat
From the bridge area, the funicular and cable cars continue up to the French Village on Nui Chua peak (about 1,487 m), with its squares, church, castles, Fantasy Park and restaurants. The temple area around Linh Ung pagoda and its large Buddha statue sits on a separate branch and is open roughly 8 am to 5 pm.
Since you can’t bring food up, plan for lunch. A buffet combo is paid with your ticket; otherwise eat at the restaurants and cafes in the French Village at resort prices. The evening combo with transport suits anyone mainly after the French Village lit up at night, but arriving after 4 pm leaves little daylight for the Golden Bridge.

Older travelers, kids, wheelchairs and strollers
- The cable car legs are long and climb fast; anyone with a fear of heights or heart or blood pressure problems should weigh that up. There’s a medical station at the top, open roughly 8 am to 9 pm.
- The cable cars and funicular are easy for slower walkers, but there are slopes and steps between stations, and the stone paths get slippery in rain. With a wheelchair or stroller, call the hotline first to ask which stations and routes to use.
- Many Fantasy Park rides have height limits; measure your kids beforehand to know which ticket they need and what they can ride.
FAQ
Is it worth staying a night on the mountain?
Consider it if you want to explore the French Village after dark or reach the bridge earlier than day visitors. When comparing with a room in Da Nang, count the cable car, meals and anything else the mountain package includes. The summit hotel’s autumn package covers stays from September 1 to November 30, 2026, from 4.5 million VND (about US$175) per room for two adults, before tax and service; the announcement doesn’t list what’s included, so ask whether the cable car and meals are part of it. For December the package has ended, so check the rate for your date. Ask about early cable car times too, since not every schedule gets you there for sunrise, and a foggy morning can still hide the view.
Is a guided tour worth it?
It mainly saves you arranging transport and buying tickets. Group tours tend to reach the bridge in the busy mid-morning window, so if you want to get there ahead of the groups, going independently on the first cable car usually works better.
