Where to eat in Da Lat: 22 spots by street, meal and night market

Where to eat in Da Lat, sorted by street and by meal: the market, the night market, Hoang Dieu, Tang Bat Ho and Phan Dinh Phung. We pulled 22 eateries from VnExpress, Tuoi Tre, Dan Tri and Saigoneer, each with a dated price (updated September 25, 2026).

How we put this guide together

This is a roundup of where to eat in Da Lat, not a set of personal reviews. We cross-checked English-language reporting (Tuoi Tre News, VnExpress International, Viet Nam News, Saigoneer) against Vietnamese outlets (VnExpress, Tuoi Tre, Nguoi Lao Dong, Dan Tri, Thanh Nien, Lam Dong Newspaper) published between 2017 and September 24, 2026. Every eatery below names its source and the date of the price, so you know how old each number is.

Where to eat in Da Lat: six food streets to remember

Da Lat has no single food street. Instead, eateries cluster in small pockets around Da Lat Market, and each pocket is known for a few dishes at a certain time of day. The simplest way to work out where to eat in Da Lat is to remember a handful of street names by meal, then open your map app and pick whatever is closest to your hotel.

This guide only answers the “where” question. If you want to know what banh can or chicken hotpot with la e actually is, read the Da Lat food section of our homepage first. We also leave out cafés (see our Cheo Veooo cafe review) and dried persimmons (see Da Lat dried persimmons).

Tuoi Tre News called Da Lat “a foodie paradise that flies under the radar” in May 2023 and, sensibly, organized its tips by street rather than by restaurant. Shops change hands quickly, but a street tends to keep its specialty for decades. We follow the same approach.

A note on addresses and the new ward names

On July 1, 2025, Da Lat stopped being a city and was split into five wards that all carry its name. Under the plan reported by Nguoi Lao Dong (April 19, 2025), old Wards 1, 2, 3, 4 and 10 became Xuân Hương - Đà Lạt; Wards 5 and 6 plus Ta Nung became Cam Ly - Đà Lạt; Wards 8, 9 and 12 became Lâm Viên - Đà Lạt; and Ward 11 joined three communes as Xuân Trường - Đà Lạt. Older articles say “Ward 2”; your taxi app may now say Xuan Huong.

Da Lat Market by day: eating inside, shopping for specialties

Da Lat Market (Chợ Đà Lạt) sits on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street in what was Ward 1, now Xuan Huong - Da Lat ward. According to Tuoi Tre (September 19, 2026, in Vietnamese), it opens around 6 a.m. when the produce trucks arrive. Tourists shop by day, locals buy groceries, and after dark the outdoor area becomes the night market, with food stalls running until about 11 p.m. or midnight.

The market has two main halls. In 2025 the management board leased 664 trading spots in Block A and 500 in Block B, and the night market food zone has 12 leased counters, according to Nguoi Lao Dong (March 12, 2026). The building has a ground floor plus two upper floors. For a first-time visitor it is the easiest answer to where to eat in Da Lat: everything is within a few minutes’ walk.

What to eat inside and what to buy

Inside the main hall, stalls selling jam, artichoke tea and dried fruit dominate. A vendor interviewed by Tuoi Tre said almost every visitor stops at the market once to buy jam and tea as gifts. Fresh vegetables and fruit are sold along the walkways around the market from early morning, cheaper and with more choice than the tourist-facing stalls.

As for where to eat in Da Lat Market itself, many travel blogs mention a food area on an upper floor serving noodle soups and soy milk. We could not find a news report describing it, so we give no prices or hours. If you eat there, ask the price of each dish before you sit down, the same as anywhere else.

Da Lat night market: layout, busy hours and benchmark prices

The night market, nicknamed “Hell Market” (chợ Âm Phủ) because vendors once lit their stalls with oil lamps, is where almost every visitor ends up on the first evening. It runs along Nguyen Thi Minh Khai in front of the market building and up the wide staircase toward the Hoa Binh area. According to Lam Dong Newspaper (May 12, 2026), it gets crowded after 7 p.m., especially on weekends, and on peak nights food activity in the center carries on until 1 or 2 a.m.

Layout: where the food is

Food vendors set up low tables and plastic stools right on the road and around the foot of the staircase, while wool hats, jackets and dried snacks line both sides of the walkway. VnExpress International (May 2022) listed hot soy milk, artichoke tea, sweet tofu in ginger syrup, grilled scallops, chicken porridge, corn and grilled rice paper among the night market staples. Hot drinks are concentrated at the top of Tang Bat Ho Street, right next to the market.

Benchmark prices with dates

Night market prices reported by VnExpress on September 15, 2021. Expect 2026 prices to be higher.

The table comes from a VnExpress budget-eating piece (September 15, 2021, in Vietnamese). VietNamNet’s English edition (December 2021) reported similar street prices, with grilled rice paper around VND20,000. According to Lam Dong Newspaper (February 21, 2026), food prices in Da Lat rose 10-20% over the 2026 Lunar New Year. Use these numbers as a floor: if a quote is several times higher, ask again or walk on.

Our night market routine

If you are wondering where to eat in Da Lat on a Saturday night, so is everyone else: that is when the night market is at its busiest. Arrive around 6 p.m. to get a seat, eat before 8 p.m., then browse. Choose stalls with a posted menu, ask the price for the whole order before sitting down, and order dish by dish rather than letting the vendor “fill the table.” The staircase is steep and packed, so agree on a meeting point if you are with older relatives or kids.

Breakfast: Hoang Dieu, Tang Bat Ho and Bui Thi Xuan

Morning is when locals outnumber tourists, and many stalls sell out by 9 or 10 a.m. If you want to know where to eat in Da Lat for breakfast, think banh mi xiu mai (bread with pork meatballs in broth) or banh can (mini rice pancakes), and go before 8 a.m. Below are places the press has written about, with the year of each report.

01Banh mi xiu mai at 26 Hoang Dieu

Saigoneer described Bánh Mì Bé Linh as a three-generation, two-story shop that sells nothing but meatballs and bread. The meatballs are cooked to order, so a wait of 10 minutes or more is normal. Number 26 Hoang Dieu also appears on the VnExpress International list of xiu mai and grilled rice paper addresses from January 2023.

Address
26 Hoàng Diệu, old Ward 5, now Cam Ly - Da Lat ward
Price
Bread at VND2,000 a loaf (Saigoneer, October 2020)

02Quán Xíu Mại Chấm, 47 Hoang Dieu

A few doors down is a different take: a menu of about 20 items, with a “special” plate as the bestseller. Saigoneer compared the two shops without naming a winner. Our suggestion is to try one each morning and decide for yourself.

Address
47 Hoàng Diệu, Cam Ly - Da Lat ward

03Banh mi xiu mai 79, corner of Bui Thi Xuan and Thong Thien Hoc

VnExpress reported that this stall takes up less than 2 square meters and that its owner had sold from the same corner for 25 years as of 2019. Customers perch on plastic stools on the sidewalk; many locals take theirs to go. VnExpress International listed 79 Bui Thi Xuan among its recommended xiu mai addresses in 2023.

Hours
From 6 a.m. until sold out, around 10 a.m. (VnExpress, May 2019)
Price
About VND20,000 (May 2019)

04“Bự Thiệt” banh mi in a villa courtyard

The newest place on this list of where to eat in Da Lat. Dan Tri reported that the owner started selling bread outside her family villa to pass the time, then got so busy she had to pause. She sells 100-200 loaves a day. Because it is morning-only and shuts on Wednesdays, check the shop’s social media page before you go.

Area
Cam Ly - Da Lat ward (no street number in the report)
Hours
Opens 6 a.m., usually sold out by 9-9:30 a.m., closed Wednesdays
Price
VND20,000 with meatballs, VND23,000-28,000 with grilled pork (April 2026)

05Banh can and banh uot long ga on Tang Bat Ho

Tang Bat Ho is a short slope beside the night market that fills with banh can and banh uot long ga (rice sheets with shredded chicken and giblets) every morning. VnExpress International (May 2022) mentioned a banh can shop at the bottom of the slope with quail egg and duck egg versions, open for more than 15 years. Viet Nam News named Quán Trang at 15F and Chip Chip at 28 Tang Bat Ho among its picks.

Price
About VND35,000 a serving (VnExpress, April 2022)
Addresses in the press
15F and 28 Tăng Bạt Hổ (banh uot long ga); 30 Tăng Bạt Hổ (banh can)

06Banh can at Dốc Nhà Làng (Nguyen Bieu Street)

If Tang Bat Ho is too crowded, this slope nearby serves seafood banh can. VnExpress slotted it into day three of its three-day eating plan. Eat banh can hot at the stall; it turns tough once it cools, so it does not travel well.

Price
VND35,000 (VnExpress, January 2022)
Address in the press
15A Nguyễn Biểu (VnExpress International, January 2023)

07Hủ tiếu Nam Vang Gia Cát, Phan Dinh Phung Street

For a morning without bread, VnExpress suggested Phnom Penh-style noodle soup on Phan Dinh Phung. The street is long and busy all day; after breakfast you can walk to number 68 for banh uot long ga, which Viet Nam News also listed.

Area

Lunch: home-style rice, grilled pork rolls and mi Quang

At lunchtime most visitors are out sightseeing. If you are still near the center, these are the places to know when you wonder where to eat in Da Lat at midday. Groups should call ahead, as many small shops only have a few tables.

08Nem nướng Bà Hùng, 328 Phan Dinh Phung

This grilled pork roll shop comes up more than any other in the articles we read, from VnExpress to VnExpress International. Its signature is a thick yellow dipping sauce. A 2019 VnExpress piece placed it in the Hoang Van Thu area, while reports from 2022-2023 give 328 Phan Dinh Phung, so use the newer address.

Address
328 Phan Đình Phùng, Xuan Huong - Da Lat ward (old Ward 2)
Price
VND30,000-60,000 (VnExpress, April 2022)

09Ngày Ba Bữa rice shop, Tran Nhat Duat Street

Decorated like an old family home, this lunch spot writes its menu by hand each day based on what the market has. You pick your own bowl and chopsticks from a basket. It is a good answer to where to eat in Da Lat when you want a proper sit-down meal after days of street snacks. It only serves lunch, so arrive before noon.

Area
Trần Nhật Duật, old Ward 5, now Cam Ly - Da Lat ward
Hours
10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. (VnExpress, July 2021)

A tiny shop with three to five tables in the Ap Anh Sang neighborhood behind the Da Lat Flower Garden. In the same area, VnExpress (April 2019) recommended a Hue-style beef noodle shop from VND30,000 that also sells mi Quang and homemade yogurt. It is a handy lunch stop after a walk around Xuan Huong Lake.

Price
VND50,000 a bowl (VnExpress, April 2022)

11Chicken rice on Hoang Dieu and crab noodle soup nearby

Hoang Dieu is not just a breakfast street, and it is a reliable pick for where to eat in Da Lat at lunch; VnExpress suggested chicken rice there for lunch. For bun rieu (crab noodle soup), the same article pointed to Bún Loan in an alley off Hoang Van Thu, and a 2019 VnExpress piece recommended a stall on Nguyen Cong Tru at VND25,000-35,000.

Price

Price
VND20,000 a cup (VnExpress, April 2022)

Dinner: chicken hotpot, stuffed snails and barbecue

Evenings are chilly, so hotpot and barbecue places fill up, especially on weekends. For dinner, knowing where to eat in Da Lat is only half the job; booking is the other half. Tuoi Tre News also advised calling ahead and checking holiday opening hours.

13Lẩu gà lá é Tao Ngộ, Ba Thang Tu Street

VnExpress called this one of the first places in Da Lat to serve chicken hotpot with la e, a peppery local herb. A pot comes with half a chicken, fresh rice noodles, mushrooms and the herb. Ba Thang Tu is the road out toward Prenn Pass, a short ride from the market, so line up a ride back if you are not driving.

Area
Ba Tháng Tư, old Ward 3, now Xuan Huong - Da Lat ward

15Stuffed snails on Hai Ba Trung Street

Late-night food: where to eat in Da Lat after 10 p.m.

Da Lat goes to bed early. Dan Tri (June 18, 2024) reported that most shops close by 10 p.m. and streets empty after 11 p.m. What stays open is a handful of night market stalls and grill carts around Lam Vien Square, where one vendor told the paper she closes at 6 a.m. So the honest answer to where to eat in Da Lat after 10 p.m. is: near the market or the square, and not much else.

20Soy milk cart at the top of Tang Bat Ho

The cart sells hundreds of glasses a night, and even takeaway customers line up. Besides soy milk there is corn milk, mung bean milk, fried dough and cream puffs. For many visitors it is the last stop after the night market.

Hours
5:30 p.m. to midnight, busiest 8-11 p.m. (Ngoi Sao, November 2018)
Price
VND6,000-10,000 a glass (2018); hot milk stalls on Tang Bat Ho VND10,000-15,000 (VnExpress, September 2021)

21Night food zone at the Da Lat Flower Garden gate

Da Lat’s first all-night food zone opened on December 29, 2023, with four sections and about 100 stalls, partly to take pressure off the night market. It used to be the best answer to where to eat in Da Lat after midnight, but we found no 2025-2026 update on whether it is still running, so ask your hotel before heading out late.

Location

Status

22Grilled rice paper at the Hoang Dieu junction and evening carts

Banh trang nuong carts pop up on many corners after dark. Tuoi Tre News named Nha Chung, Hoang Dieu, Bui Thi Xuan, Nguyen Chi Thanh and the night market as reliable spots. The same snack can cost twice as much at the night market as on a side street, so a short walk pays off. A 2017 VnExpress piece covered the long-running stall at the Hoang Dieu junction.

Price

Vegetarian food in Da Lat

We could not find a major news report since 2022 that recommends a specific vegetarian restaurant in Da Lat with an address and prices, so we do not offer a “press-verified” list. Many travel blogs mention An Lạc Tâm, Lạt Chay, Rau DAWA and OM Chay; check recent map reviews before you go.

At ordinary stalls, ask about the broth and dipping sauce. Banh can, grilled rice paper and xiu mai all contain egg, meat or fish sauce unless the cook makes a separate batch. The market itself is a rich source of vegetables, fruit and soy milk, so vegetarians working out where to eat in Da Lat still have plenty of options.

  • Useful words: “chay” means vegetarian; “không thịt, không trứng, không nước mắm” means no meat, no egg, no fish sauce. Showing it written on your phone works better than pronouncing it.
  • Vegans: “chay” at many stalls still includes egg, so ask specifically.
  • Allergies: grilled rice paper often has quail egg, pâté and cheese; snails and crab soup are shellfish.

Asking prices, food safety and etiquette

Overcharging has happened

In 2017, two foreign tourists, one from Thailand and one from England, were charged VND460,000 at a night market stall, including a chicken dish they had not eaten. Ward police made the owner refund VND200,000, according to VietnamPlus (August 7, 2017, in Vietnamese). By December 2022, VOV reported that every trader at Da Lat Market had signed a pledge to sell at posted prices.

Food safety

In July 2023, authorities closed two “Bò Tơ Đà Lạt 118” restaurants and fined the owner VND24.5 million for using meat of unclear origin (Tuoi Tre News, July 14, 2023). A local-sounding name does not guarantee local ingredients. When choosing where to eat in Da Lat, favor places busy with residents, with clean kitchens and food cooked hot in front of you.

Five habits for wherever you eat in Da Lat

  1. Ask the price for the whole portion or pot before you sit, not just the per-person figure.
  2. Photograph the menu or price board, especially over holidays when prices can rise 10-20%.
  3. Send back anything you did not order straight away.
  4. At small sidewalk stalls, free up your stool once you finish, especially during the morning rush.
  5. Carry some small cash in case a street vendor has no QR code or the signal drops.

For emergency numbers, safety advice and how to avoid being overcharged on rooms and rentals, see our Da Lat travel tips.

A one-day eating loop with little travel

Short on time? Here is where to eat in Da Lat in a single loop around the center. Breakfast on xiu mai at Hoang Dieu or banh can on Tang Bat Ho. Lunch on home-style rice on Tran Nhat Duat or mi Quang in Ap Anh Sang. An afternoon avocado ice cream on Nguyen Van Troi. Dinner on chicken hotpot or stuffed snails, then the night market and a hot soy milk to finish.

To pair meals with sights by area, see places to visit in Da Lat. In October, afternoon rain is common, so pick places with a roof after lunch; details in Da Lat weather in October. For the big picture, start at our Da Lat travel guide.

One last caveat: this guide to where to eat in Da Lat is built on news reports, and the news lags behind the street. Shops change owners, move or close. If you spot something out of date, tell us through the contact page and we will update it.
